Business Banking (BB) is a significant division in the Commonwealth Bank Group (CBA). This role heads-up of the shared service function within the BB Finance team providing statutory and regulatory reporting as well as line 1 risk control for BB’s subsidiaries.

The team supports two main businesses:

CommSec is a key client facing business within the BB division of CBA. It is Australia’s leading online retail stockbroker offering an integrated cash solution and margin lending and operates out of a regulated entity, Commonwealth Securities Limited, and the Commonwealth Bank.

Asset Finance provides access to new, or used, vehicles and equipment by way of equipment loans, hire purchase agreements and finance leases.

The purpose of this position is to drive the provision of high-quality legal entity, statutory and risk reporting to the business it supports, their leadership teams and Boards so that they can run their business based on accurate financial and operational data.

  • Regulatory reporting to the ASX on capital, liquidity and counterparty risk, as well as daily monitoring and analysis to ensure compliance with Regulator and Board thresholds
  • Management and development of one direct report
  • Monthly P&L and Balance sheet reporting for BB’s subsidiaries in the Group
  • Preparation and review of CommSec’s annual accounts and presentation to the CommSec Board
  • Preparation and review of subsidiary Board papers including insolvency statements, cash flow forecasts, dividend declarations and business performance
  • Intercompany settlements and management of subsidiary bank accounts
  • Financial Control of the CommSec business, a core component of CBA’s risk management framework
  • Preparation of the Semi-annual Director’s Questionnaire and presentation to the CommSec EGM
  • Preparation of data that is incorporated into the Group’s half and full year profit announcement and annual report
  • Main contact for PwC for their interim and year-end audit of subsidiary accounts
  • Review of ABS and ASX returns
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Providing relevant and timely support to the business, BB Finance and other departments within the Group
  • Ad-hoc support e.g. supplier governance review, new products initiatives and requests from regulators
  • Degree qualification in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • CA/CPA/CFA qualification required (completed or in-progress)
  • Financial services experience preferred
  • Excellent people management skills and experience
  • Experience across a broad range of finance disciplines (financial control, management and regulatory reporting and forecasting)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Confidence in managing Senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Alteryx, SQL, Tableau and OneSource experience an advantage
