Oversee, lead, and manage all activities within the General Ledger (GL) function at EDOTCO Bangladesh, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of day-to-day GL accounting operations, particularly the accounting closing activities and reporting process for multiple entities supported by Finance Shared Services (FSS); Actively participate and collaborate in GL-related projects and digitalization initiatives, respond to ad-hoc requests from internal and external parties, and establish and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the Group and National Tower Cos.
- Oversee the complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate closing and reporting.
- Lead and present monthly financial workings and results to stakeholders, including Directors of Finance (DOFs) and Finance teams of National Tower Cos (NTCs) supported by Finance Shared Services (FSS).
- Guide the team in applying accounting knowledge, standards, and system postings to ensure best practices and consistency across the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Review monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including reconciliation to sub-ledger, and ensure no long-standing accruals remain in the books.
- Handle various reporting and analysis needs for statutory and management purposes, such as the yearly audited financial statements.
- Implement measures to ensure compliance with the company’s accounting policies, procedures, and limits of authority.
- Ensure the completion of statutory audits and Financial Statement preparation within the given timeline, addressing and resolving audit issues promptly.
- Lead the resolution of BAU operational matters, driving toward closure of identified issues.
- Continuously improve processes and controls across the Group and NTCs, including creating standard and ad-hoc reports and implementing digitalization tools and initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures and other procedures as needed.
- Act as a liaison with upstream and downstream users to ensure a seamless end-to-end flow.
Qualification and Experience:
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; professional qualifications such as MIA, ACCA, CPA, or ICAEW are advantageous.
- Minimum 08 years of relevant experience in supporting General Ledger operations, including handling a full set of accounts and preparing financial statements.
- Experience and knowledge in a Finance Shared Services environment are considered beneficial.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in accounting and reporting standards, financial statutory requirements, and well-versed in IFRS/MFRS.
- Strong accounting and analytical skills for self-inspection and ensuring compliance with accounting practices, policies, and guidelines.
- Excellent knowledge of GL processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experienced with audit processes and capable of resolving audit queries.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, accuracy, control, and governance.
