We are an unlisted public company and one of five licensed banks in Australia with full direct connectivity and production capability across all domestic payment systems. Whilst the major banks leverage this capability for their consumer and business clients, our B2B model focuses on enabling other banks, fintech’s and corporates to deliver innovative and competitive payment and digital solutions to their clients and customers.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager, Shared Services to join our Shared Services Group within our Products division.

The Shared Services Group provides the operations, process improvement and shared core banking and technology applications that enable and support Cuscal’s business units. The portfolio of applications and technology services is large and broad, including core systems and gateways, settlement and disputes, billing, and client portals and access management.

Reporting into the Shared Services Group Lead, the purpose of the Senior Product Manager, Shared Services is to set the overall strategic vision for the product portfolio, and to be accountable for the product performance and the P&L. The Senior Product Manager is also responsible for leading the portfolio’s Product Management team which consists of 2 direct reports (Product Manager and UX Designer).

As the Senior Product Manager, you will also have a comprehensive understanding of the market and product trends that may affect our product in the future and ensure that there are clearly defined product requirements, SLAs aligned to market needs, pricing models and distribution channels.

  • Provide leadership and direction for the direct reports and ensure high quality service delivery for internal and external customers.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Align the product roadmap to the strategy and work with Product Owners to ensure roadmaps are sequenced to deliver the highest value customer and business outcomes.
  • Scan and conduct market investigation identifying new customer targets and distribution channels.
  • Create and run ongoing customer discovery programs to uncover new value propositions.
  • Develop personas to articulate client value propositions.
  • Test and iterate items on the roadmap through research and lean experimental techniques.
  • Develop pricing models and outline distribution strategy and models relevant to product solutions.
  • Provide recommendations/options/solutions for new or enhanced features and for new and existing clients and continually monitor these to maximise sales and maintain product profitability and competitiveness.
  • Work closely with the Product Owners to ensure the vision for the product is achieved.
  • Manage the integration of new product development into business processes, including contracts, billing, operations, and service management.
  • Report on the product’s performance and the P&L and take corrective action if it isn’t aligned with its goals.
  • Resolve product related issues and drive organisational understanding of competencies, business impact and profitability.
  • Assess product competitiveness, evaluate product costs, and monitor pricing, reprice if needed in line with the product roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain key internal and external relationships to optimise the performance, growth awareness and reputation of the department.
  • Select and manage appropriate suppliers, vendors consultants and contractors, including the RFP process.

This is a vital role within the organisation, and it requires the ideal candidate to have preferably 5 plus of experience within the payments industry with agile product development and deliver to be considered for this role.

You will also have:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the electronic payment industry is essential.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team through coaching and mentoring.
  • Provan track record of managing revenue and expense lines.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to prioritise business values.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively and be able to present to ELT in a confident manner.
  • Technical understanding of supplier and competitor offering
  • High understanding of Customer needs and business strategies
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Practical delivery experience of technical innovation and implementations.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or equivalent are highly desirable.
