The Sr Director, Technology Shared Services will play a pivotal role in executing the technology strategy for GIA through the delivery of technology services. The successful candidate will be responsible for leveraging modern IT solutions to enhance business operations, drive efficiency, and ensure compliance. This role will directly report to GIA’s Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO) and will be a strategic member of the Senior Leadership Team.
The Sr Director enables the delivery of business and IT strategic outcomes through technology capabilities. Accountabilities include aiding the organization’s achievement of targeted business objectives related to growing revenue, optimizing costs, mitigating risks, and improving sustainability using sound technology practices.
Strategy & Planning
- Manages the full lifecycle of IT services in close collaboration with product and service owners to ensure business value is being realized and to measure and prioritize technical debt remediation
- Establishes & executes the vision, strategy, and operating plan for a global technology shared services (Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, etc.) to supports the enterprise’s strategic imperatives.

- Recommends initiatives to advance business capabilities that will mature, modernize or simplify technology solutions as part of an enterprise roadmap that will identify synergies across the enterprise IT portfolios
- Builds successful relationships with key stakeholders to deliver IT services in a cost effective and efficient manner.
- Works collaboratively to ensure required business outcomes are linked to future-state business capabilities and that solutions are aligned to the enterprise framework and standards.
- Develops and controls the annual budget in collaboration with the IT finance manager and drives continual cost optimization.
- Collaborates with the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) to ensure products and services meet security standards, that effective controls for processes and functions are established and managed and supports compliance and audit requirements.
- Improves IT resilience by improving IT availability, reliability, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Designs and develops a strong global team and reporting structure with the necessary skills and abilities.
- Ensures compliance with IT principles, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements within and across the region.
- Supports the development of IT Disaster Recovery strategy and plan, and facilitate the technology alignment of information security, disaster recovery, and business continuity priorities.
Design & Deploy
- Working closely with CITO, provides overall direction, guidance, and definition of technology architecture to effectively support the business strategy.
- Connect strategy to delivery through collaborative, supportive, and consultative teaming behaviors.
- Influence the organization’s digital business strategies and balancing innovation and technical debt activities.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Establish and enforce cloud governance policies, standards, and best practices for security, compliance, performance, and reliability.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and cost management through automation, monitoring, and analytics.
- Integrate cloud services with on-premise systems and legacy applications using APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
- Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architectural requirements as needed for the organization.
- Leads programs to develop, maintain, and govern the enterprise architecture across the organization.
- Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains.
Operate & Stabilize
- Establishes and manages integrated IT Service Management capabilities based on best practices and the use of key performance indicators and outcome driven metrics.
- Partners with business stakeholders to consult on technology solutions, provides governance, oversight, and strategic insight to all work in the function(s) and identifies cross functional & enterprise synergies including potential risks/impacts to business operations.
- Ensures that all business needs are formalized, tracked, and addressed through a technical design documentation process.
- Evaluates technical debt and overall risk scores for all assets supporting each business function and develops a strategic roadmap that addresses lifecycle requirements for all technology.
- Identifies areas where technical solutions would drive continuous improvement and improve business performance.
- Develops and communicates architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.\
- Establishes metrics, evaluates performance of solutions, and seeks feedback from end users regarding same to improve.
Leadership & Performance
- Communicates to all levels of leadership and articulates technical, strategic, and business direction.
- Creates a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continual service improvement to improve the efficiency of IT operations capabilities through emerging technology, experimentation, Agile, DevOps, platform and product approaches.
- Builds a high performing team with a strong focus on business value and customer centricity.
- Drives the development, coaching, and training of team members by setting goals and objectives, implementing career paths to performance, and succession planning.
- Leads teams to effectively coordinate with key business partners to implement solutions supporting the business’s needs, while consistently demonstrating a service-oriented delivery approach.
- Provides technical leadership and coaching, fostering accountability, innovation and teamwork.
- Develop and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers to ensure that the organization has access to the latest technology solutions and services.
Technical
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Decision Sciences, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of industry and relevant experience, with 3+ years of experience leading/managing staff. 5+ years as a Director or Sr. Director-level role preferred.
- Five to seven years experience managing technology operations performance measurement and optimization and investment and budgeting activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors.
- Knowledge of ITIL and other IT service management frameworks.
- Strong project management skills, including project planning, budgeting, risk management, and team management.
- Familiarity with business architecture, business capability modeling, performance management of business capabilities, and business case development for business capability investment decision making
- Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation, particularly in ways that impact delivery progression against business commitments
