SMBC is in the process of leading a Digital Transformation across our Americas Division as we continue to modernize our technology, focus on our data driven approach, grow and plan for the future. As a result of this expansion we are seeking a Technology leader to run our Sanctions technology team.

Here you will work closely with stakeholders across our Business Functions, Technology Teams and External Data Vendors to deliver high quality, timely and scalable solutions to satisfy business needs across the Americas Division. Our sanctions systems are global, regulatory in nature, and critical to real-time payment processing. They need to be stable, accurate, and error-free. The right candidate will be proficient at ensuring the necessary testing and controls are in place.

• Responsible for the implementation and on-going support of all sanctions screening technology.
• Lead projects from initial discovery phase through to final implementation, ensuring responsibilities are clear and milestones are being met according to plan.
• Actively manage production incidents by working with required technology teams to resolve issues, identify root cause, and eliminate recurrence.
• Create information flow among team members and stakeholders.
• Work across various shared services within technology to clearly define responsibilities
• Support of program objectives: resource and demand planning, change and resource management processes
• Coordinate and manage several projects and activities, providing transparency of progress against the strategic roadmap
• Manage activities with 3rd party vendors including the execution of service agreements, license negotiations, and statements of work.
• Develop and execute on proofs of concept for initiatives that address project goals.
• Build out a technology team that will support the above requirements.

• 5+ years of relevant experience in Senior/Technical Team Lead Roles
• 10+ years of development experience
• Prior experience in the Financial Services Industry.
• Hands-on experience with real-time Sanctions Screening and vendor platforms including Fircosoft.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer Science Degree or equivalent.
• Experience with Agile (and SDLC) Methodologies.

Nice to have

• Experience building and deploying solutions on Cloud Platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Building/Deploying containerized software on modern DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Subject matter expertise in related Compliance technology including AML Transaction Monitoring and/or KYC.
