The Vice President, Human Resources will be responsible for developing and executing the human capital strategy for the Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) sector of BAE Systems, Inc. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this leader will be the business/strategic partner to the ESS senior leadership team for a shared services organization comprised of over 1100 employees that provide IT infrastructure, IT operations, data management and end user services, as well as IT governance, transformation, cybersecurity and application solutions. In addition, ESS delivers and supports our U.S. enterprise-wide employees in the areas of Travel & Expense, HR, Payroll and Accounts Payable and Cash Applications services for headquarters and three business areas with over 35,000 geographically dispersed employees.
The HRVP is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, talent acquisition, change management, organizational management, diversity, equity & inclusion, training and development and resolution of employee and labor relations matters. In addition, this individual is responsible for ensuring a culture of inclusivity, performance as well as a compliant work place for all employees in the business. The HRVP is also responsible for directing the HR service desk, which provides transactional support to all current, former, and prospective employees including employee records and data, payroll, organization data, and leaves administration. The HRVP will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Inc SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, and will be responsible for collaborating with the HR Centers of Expertise (COEs) to develop and support the overall Inc. HR strategy and is a member of the Inc. HR Leadership Team.
Location: Preferred location is Falls Church, VA. Will consider other BAE Systems’ locations and hybrid work arrangements.
Critical to the success of the Vice President, Human Resources will be his/her ability to accomplish the following:
- Exemplify BAE Systems Leadership behaviors in all aspects of work.
- Develop and execute HR strategic plans to support the achievement of the overall business objectives.
- Provide leadership for the human resources shared services team, working to improve processes and delivery to the businesses supported through shared services.
- Function as a strategic business advisor to the senior leadership team of ESS regarding key organizational and management issues.
- Develop comprehensive, data-driven Strategic Workforce Plans and execute recruitment and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the business.
- Ensure the ability to attract, develop and retain high quality talent to support the growth objectives, opportunities and strategies of the organization.
- Build and maintain a strong, effective and respected Human Resources organization that is proactive and anticipatory, viewed by its internal clients, at all levels, as vital to the organization’s success.
- Working collaboratively with the HR Centers of Expertise (COEs), proactively plan and execute programs that will continuously stretch the organization to ensure that the business maintains strength in human capital, talent and culture.
- Be an active and visible advocate and driver for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
- Partner closely with Compliance-related functions (Ethics, Legal, Safety, Labor and Security) on various projects and initiatives.
- Able to influence not only HR related decisions with senior leaders but also shape and influence business direction through engagement with the senior leadership team.
- Coach and counsel employees at all levels of the organization (including senior leadership) on behaviors, tone, communication approaches and initiatives to ensure alignment and positive employee experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- A minimum of 15 years or progressively responsible experience with at least 5 years leadership responsibility in the Human Resources field.
- Success as a human resources generalist background with broad knowledge of HR strategic initiatives, talent acquisition, HR operations, organizational development, employee relations, compensation, and utilization of analytics to make data driven decisions.
- Leading Human Resources within a shared services business model
- Proven ability to formulate strategies, plans or solutions by connecting differing inputs and by applying general HR expertise and business acumen.
- Experience advising leadership in all HR aspects by applying effective change management, knowledge of the business, and emotional intelligence to influence the direction of the organization with or without positional authority.
- Effectively lead HR teams to deliver outstanding performance to the organization. Develop team members for future needs of the organization.
- Proven experience achieving organizational objectives by collaborating with others and leading teams of individuals who are not direct reports.
- Master’s Degree in related field
