Under the direction of the Jefferson Health Sr. VP, Administrative Services and the President of Jefferson Medical Group (JMG), and in collaboration with the Enterprise Shared Service Clinical Leader, provides administrative oversight and coordination of all service line activities in accordance with Jefferson’s strategic, operational and financial goals. Demonstrates excellence in leadership and effective management to lead the Shared Service towards the achievement of enterprise growth, clinical quality, operational performance, and financial excellence.
Strategic Direction and Growth
- In collaboration with the Enterprise Shared Service Clinical Leader, is responsible to lead the development of the Shared Service Strategic and Financial Plan and is accountable for its successful implementation per the timelines outlined within the plan
- Responsible to identify and develop new clinical programs consistent with market opportunity, patient need, and financial feasibility across the enterprise
- Accountable to drive growth in accordance with the Shared Service Strategic Plan and in response to community needs across the care continuum and throughout Jefferson Health market area
- In collaboration with the Enterprise Shared Service Clinical Leader, work closely with the Sr. VP, Administrative Servicesand the President JMG, to build, develop, and grow the Shared Service market share across the enterprise market
Clinical and Service Performance
- In partnership with key health system stakeholders, is responsible to develop operational and clinical quality performance standards; accountable for Shared Service’s achievement of those standards
- Stimulate the development of new approaches to patient care management in order to facilitate the continuum of patient care, to promote high quality care in a cost effective manner while controlling resource utilization
- Accountable to build/refresh annually a Shared Service Growth Plan including care retention through seamless transitions in care throughout the continuum regardless of location of service
- Drives Strategic Operational Initiatives in collaboration with key divisional and enterprise leaders
- Leads or supports clinical variation reduction projects in collaboration with divisional operational, nursing, case management and medical leaders
Operations
- Accountable for the productivity of Shared Service providers
- Provides insight and consultation in the areas of general operations, IS&T, facilities and space, and human resources as it relates to the operations within and affecting the Shared Service
- Accountable to ensure that caregivers throughout the Shared Service adhere to the compliance standards and applicable policies and procedures
Financial Management
- Subject to relevant Jefferson Health approvals,
- Responsible for the accuracy of budget volume projections in collaboration with division and JMG leadership
- Approves all shared service related requests in the capital approval process and value analysis process
- Creates and drives business plans in collaboration with divisional leaders, Presidents, and divisional finance leaders with the planning
- Leads Shared Service Strategic and Financial Planning process
- Responsible for the development of the annual Service Line capital request budget including identification of needs, prioritization, and submission; accountable to implement the capital plan in accordance with approved enterprise capital budgets
People
- Responsible to develop and activate a provider manpower plan to cover current community needs at all Jefferson Health facilities
- Participates in/leads strategic provider recruitment
- Responsible to ensure provider alignment across the Shared Service
- Responsible to evaluate and coordinate practice acquisitions in alignment with enterprise strategic growth plans and with all necessary approvals;
Academic
- Provide insight and consultation in the development and ongoing support of clinical educational programs that align with Shared Service capabilities
- Provide insight and consultation in the development and ongoing support of clinical research programs
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Strategic Direction and Growth
- Responsible for the development of programmatic business plans in line with the Service LineStrategic Plan; accountable for plan implementation pending appropriate approvals
- Responsible to understand and respond to the health needs of the community through education, advocacy, partnership, and program development
- Responsible to develop and accountable to implement a Shared Service clinical service distribution plan (services, technologies, and equipment) in collaboration with fellow enterprise leadership
- Responsible to develop and accountable to implement a Shared Service asset optimization and rationalization plan
- As requested, represent the Shared Service at critical Jefferson Health strategic planning meetings
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop an annual Shared Service Marketing and Community Outreach Plan to support targeted growth and program awareness
- Monitor legislative and reimbursement changes, technological advances and hospital trends to identify critical issues to service delivery
- Work with the Office of Institutional Advancement and actively support fundraising strategies relative to the future expansion of services and programs consistent with the missions of Jefferson Health and the Shared Service
Clinical and Service Performance
- Responsible to set patient experience standards for Shared Service performance in accordance with enterprise-wide expectations established with the JH Chief Patient Experience Officer; accountable for Service Line’s achievement of those standards
- Ensure that the care provided by the Shared Service programs serves the patient needs and attracts appropriate referrals from Jefferson Health hospitals and medical staff
- Accountable to work with enterprise leadership to ensure the Shared Service’s performance meets national, regional and local publicly reported quality measures across the enterprise
- Accountable to ensure that all Shared Service programs meet The Joint Commission, state licensure and other accreditation standards.
- Responsible to ensure that process improvement methodology and initiatives are utilized as a management tool in improving quality for the Shared Service across the enterprise
- Responsible to ensure proper leadership and representation for the Shared Service at appropriate quality forums in order to ensure quality of service across the enterprise
People
- Collaborate with Continuing Medical Education and providers to develop and offer annual CME programs educating community physicians and clinical staff regarding services and offerings of the Service Line
- In collaboration with the Enterprise Shared Service Clinical Leader, responsible and accountable to facilitate and support the recruitment of faculty and non-faculty physicians to the Shared Service who will contribute to the goals of the Shared Service and Jefferson Health
- Collaborate with Continuing Medical Education and providers to develop and offer annual CME programs educating community physicians and clinical staff regarding services and offerings of the Service Line
- In collaboration with the Enterprise Shared Service Clinical Leader, responsible and accountable to facilitate and support the recruitment of faculty and non-faculty physicians to the Shared Service who will contribute to the goals of the Shared Service and Jefferson Health
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Masters degree in healthcare or MBA required
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 10 years in a health leadership role, prior service line experience in Radiology and/or Laboratory preferred.
