The VP Regional Support Services leads the shared support services division for the Loyola Medicine reporting to the President of Loyola University Medical Center, who is also the HSA Acute Care leader for Loyola Medicine. There is also a dotted-line reporting structure with the Presidents of the MacNeal and Gottlieb Hospital campuses.
The VP will provide administrative oversight for the planning, directing, coordinating and controlling of support services to the Loyola Medicine RHM (including all acute care hospitals and all ambulatory sites) to support the regional strategy and achieve organizational goals. These services will include clinical programs/service lines, support services (Facilities Operations, Environmental Services/Linen, Food & Nutrition Services, Transportation, Public Safety/Security, Emergency Management), biomedical engineering and Ambulatory Operations. The VP will support the regional executive leadership team to implement/maintain the Trinity Health HSA Operating Model, raise levels of performance through effective execution of the operating model and provide shared support services to support operational performance to meet regional goals.
Planning:
- Participates with regional executive leadership team in planning activities and the development of regional goals.
- In conjunction with operational leaders, develops strategic and operational plans for specific areas of responsibility and the overall region.
- Assesses and selects information from RHM presidents and other leaders to plan for shared services support.
- Collaborates with regional executive leadership and physician leadership support the expansion of clinical programs/services lines in Loyola Medicine sites and affiliates across the region.
- Incorporates opportunities for service improvement and promotion of innovation in goal-setting.
Care Delivery/Performance Improvement:
- In collaboration with regional leadership, establishes standards and strategic initiatives for shared services which focus on execution of operating model and achievement of regional goals.
- Supports the standardization of care across all delivery sites to support a common Loyola brand, and the achievement of regional goals for quality, patient satisfaction and financial results.
- Collaborates with physician leadership on clinical programs/service lines to support opportunities for growth and enhanced care across the region.
Resource Management:
- Arranges systems, functions and resources to maximize quality of services, patient/customer satisfaction and efficient operations needed to achieve regional goals.
- Recruits and selects staff, in collaboration with Human Resources, and utilizes measurements of quality and productivity to evaluate systems and staffing.
- Develops and implements policies and management/operation structures to ensure continuous quality service, customer service excellence and enhanced financial performance.
Team-building:
- Fosters positive culture, team collaboration and team development to facilitate efficient operations, colleague engagement and achieve regional goals.
- Establishes and maintains effective relations with all levels of leadership, physician leadership and colleagues to support performance management and highest levels of organizational performance.
Fiscal Stewardship:
- Support fiscal stewardship by efficiently managing regional resources utilizing new/existing tools and models to make care affordable for our patients and to allow Loyola Medicine to reinvest in our mission.
- Deploys division resources, in collaboration with regional executive leadership, to improve operations and financial results.
- Ensures division achieves established productivity targets.
- Supports the development and execution of a community medicine model to increase Loyola Medicine utilization and financial results.
Professional Development:
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Preferably in healthcare or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- Preferably in healthcare or related field
Experience
- 10-15 years of previous job-related experience required
- Minimum 15 years of experience in healthcare operations; minimum of 10 years in leadership with at least 5 years at a senior director level. Significant experience working at all levels of leadership and physicians.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant and progressive experience performance improvement.
- Strong personal presence with ability to educate others on issues and motivate others to act.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills and networking abilities.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of the Catholic Church’s teaching on social justice and healthcare.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Must possess a personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Loyola Medicine and Trinity Health.
