The VP Finance, Global Business Services reports to the CFO and will manage a global team of over 480 employees in 18 countries providing strategic support services to UL Solutions three segments, eleven customer operating units, and functions.
- Attract and develop the key shared services team, key processes, policies and standard operating procedures needed to achieve key deliverables.
The team will be newly formed through the combination of several existing teams and continues our progression toward a strong global shared services model. Existing activities have largely been centralized over the past five years, and some of the activities are currently managed together. Functions are at various stages of process, technology, and location maturity. - The Business Services team continuously improves high-quality processes through a centralized company-wide shared services model.
You will lead all day-to-day activities, including supervising a team of leaders for key functions responsible for developing and meeting service level agreements and key performance indicators.
The Business Services team has an opportunity to deepen business partnerships across UL to drive business outcomes and increase effectiveness and cost efficiency.
- University Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
- Fifteen+ years’ professional experience, preferably with a portion of that experience in a leadership position with a U.S. publicly traded company.
- Strong People Leader with experience in managing global teams.
- Solid background in improving internal controls over financial reporting and SOX.
- Experience partnering with business teams to help them achieve their objectives, including improving the customer or employee experience, reducing costs, and continuously improving KPIs.
- Experience transforming shared services, including evaluating alternative delivery models, locations, and processes
- Experience partnering with senior business leaders and presenting to C-level and Board representatives.
- Excellent operational and financial information systems knowledge, partnering with business and IT team on projects.
- Ability to build confidence with the UL leadership team and with the Business Services team. Excellent communication skills: written, oral, presentation, in-person, and virtually.
- An analytical, quantitative orientation that drives objective assessment of alternatives to improve processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to organize and complete large-scale projects, and a passion for process improvements.
