The Vice President of Shared Services is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company and oversees the departments of finance, IT, and human resources. The VPSS reports directly to the president and board of directors as a member of the senior management team. The VPSS works with top-level executives to devise strategies to meet company objectives and reports on the performance of the various departments to the president and board of directors.

  • Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of various departments, such as finance, HR, and IT
  • Manage budgets, hiring and contracting, and business negotiations
  • Analyze audit reports and formulate improvements to departmental workings
  • Draft and implement policies and best practices to support achievement of objectives and required standards
  • Ensure availability of adequate and appropriate equipment, staffing, and systems; recommend additional staffing and services
  • Recruit, select, and train staff
  • Define and implemens key performance indicators and strategic objectives for the division and, as appropriate, the entire organization; facilitates measurement of those objectives, reporting results to the executive team
  • Undertake performance management review for direct reports
  • Ensure workplace health and safety
  • Demonstrate strong self-management skills and further personal development
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of non-profit experience, including 5 years of management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities
  • Proven management, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact, diplomacy, and mature judgement
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to handle the stress of a high-powered position
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, current standards, and policy formation
  • Ability to provide strong futuristic leadership
